Barbados

Hundreds of prostitutes enter Barbados monthly, through the airport. People are recruited by newspaper advertisements, or simply by word of mouth. Many of the victims are women of the neighbouring islands Trinidad, Tobago and Guyana, trafficked in on false passports.

The commercial sex industry in Barbados consists primarily of women in prostitution in clubs and streetwalkers catering to male tourists and local clientele. There has been an increase in the amount of sex tourism on the island. Barbados has a high standard of living relative to other Caribbean islands and so is one of the main destination countries in the region.

The network is tight and reaches the highest levels in society. Trafficking in women for sexual exploitation is a growing concern in the entire Caribbean region.
